League recap: Humphreys' hitting boosts Northwest Rankin

6A Region 4 league recap: 3/20/13

Reid Humphreys was the hottest hitter in 6A Region 4 this week, racking up a .474 average, two home runs and eight RBIs. Northwest Rankin compiled a record of 4-0 in that time.

The league's top pitcher this week was the Cougars' Roger Murphy. He picked up one win and 11 strikeouts.

Madison Central's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing nine hits and eight walks to lead the league in both categories.

Northwest Rankin stole 28 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 72 steals on the year.

The league boasted eight .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Will Neihaus, who hit .625 by going 10-for-16.

The Cougars' Will Neihaus finished his week with ten hits, the best slugger in the league. On the season, he's hitting .545 and ranks first in the league with 18 hits.



Northwest Rankin's Kyle Bayles struck out nine West Point hitters en route to a 13-3 victory on March 13. He gave up two hits and two runs over five innings of work.

Lee Sanders went 3-for-4 as the Jaguars defeated Hernando 7-6 on Tuesday. He also drove in zero runners and scored one run.
