Volleyball Recap: Monrovia Takes a Loss

If Monrovia was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Blair last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats lost 3-0 to the South Pasadena Tigers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Monrovia was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into South Pasadena's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-23.

South Pasadena was led to victory by Kayla Yau and Rian Sanchez. Yau had 17 assists and two aces, while Sanchez had ten digs and two aces. Those ten digs gave Sanchez a new career-high.

Monrovia moved to 13-13 with that defeat, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for South Pasadena, they pushed their record up to 20-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
