Basketball Game Preview: Berlin Mountaineers vs. Gilford Golden Eagles

Berlin hasn't had much luck against Gilford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Berlin Mountaineers are taking a road trip to take on the Gilford Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Berlin: 24, Gilford: 29.4) so any points scored will be well earned.

Last Monday, Berlin came up short against Prospect Mountain and fell 43-35.

Meanwhile, Gilford entered their tilt with Inter-Lakes on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lakers 47-10. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Gilford pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.2 points per game. As for Berlin, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.

Berlin came up short against Gilford in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 32-23. Can Berlin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
