Baseball Recap: Mesa Grande Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Mesa Grande Academy had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 5-1 to the Loma Linda Academy Roadrunners. The Cardinals have struggled against the Roadrunners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Mesa Grande Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skyler Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Smith has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

The win made it two in a row for Loma Linda Academy and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Grande Academy will take on Public Safety Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Public Safety Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.3 runs per game this season. As for Loma Linda Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Desert Chapel at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
