Softball Recap: Ganado Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Ganado's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Flatonia Bulldogs with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Flatonia's batters probably weren't too happy with Saylor Bures, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). What's more, Bures gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Ganado got a massive performance out of Kalyn Benavides, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Laci Holt, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Ganado's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Flatonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6-1.

Coming up, Ganado will face off against Bloomington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ganado is facing Bloomington at the right time seeing as Bloomington is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Flatonia, they will challenge Shiner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shiner's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Flatonia's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
