Basketball Recap: Northfield Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Northfield waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Richfield Spartans.

Northfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Sand out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sand a new career-high in boards. Amber Mahal was another key player, putting up ten points.

Northfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Richfield had strong showings from Aniiya Johnson, who posted 15 points and five rebounds, and Iona Macnabb, who had 11 points.

Northfield's record now sits at 16-8. As for Richfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Northfield has already played their next contest (against Austin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Richfield, they will head out to face off against Academy of Holy Angels at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
