Volleyball Recap: Whiteland Warriors vs. Martinsville Artesians
After flying high against Beech Grove on Thursday, Whiteland came back down to earth. The Warriors took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martinsville Artesians on Tuesday. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Artesians from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Whiteland was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Martinsville work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24.
Lilly Brown and Mari Allee certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Brown had 24 digs and one assist, while Allee had eight digs. Allee also put up an ace, which was her first of the season.
Among those leading the charge was Mylee Jarrett, who had 22 digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August.
Whiteland has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Martinsville, they moved to 8-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.
Whiteland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Southport on the 24th. As for Martinsville, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Bloomington North on the 25th.
