Preview: Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers vs. John Milledge Academy Trojans

The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the John Milledge Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Mount de Sales Academy: they have been struggling with 17 straight losses at home dating back to last season, while John Milledge Academy has snatched up 21 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Mount de Sales Academy was the victim of a rough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Stratford Academy. Mount de Sales Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Despite the defeat, Mount de Sales Academy had strong showings from Caleb Linder, who rushed for 111 yards on only ten carries, and Zavion Deshazier, who threw for 151 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, John Milledge Academy beat First Presbyterian Day 27-22 on Friday.

It was another big night for Javian Butts, who rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Butts hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kolt McMichael, who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was John Milledge Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Isaiah Womble and his two sacks.

Stratford Academy's win bumped their season record to 5-4 while Mount de Sales Academy's loss dropped theirs to 0-8.

Mount de Sales Academy was dealt a bruising 54-7 loss at the hands of John Milledge Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Mount de Sales Academy, Briggs Eady (who threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
