Softball Recap: Tamaqua's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Tamaqua dropped their record down to 7-5-1 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 9-2 to the Pine Grove Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in March.

Addison Krall was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Leah Crowley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Pine Grove, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-1. Considering they have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pine Grove's side, the team relied heavily on Madison Shiffer, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Flynn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

Tamaqua and Pine Grove should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Blue Raiders will challenge Our Lady of Lourdes Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (198 vs. 467). Meanwhile, Pine Grove (ranked 25th) will meet Pottsville (ranked 257th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
