Basketball Recap: Jefferson RISE Charter Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, Jefferson RISE Charter had to suffer through a 66-7 loss at the hands of the Phoenix Spartans. Jefferson RISE Charter has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Phoenix's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was AKELIA SMITH, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of J'VIA HILL, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Jefferson RISE Charter's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Phoenix, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing South Plaquemines the next time they take the court. Phoenix will host South Plaquemines at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Jefferson RISE Charter will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
