The Wilson Lakemen will take on the Barker Bulldogs at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wilson easily dispatched Newfane on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Lakemen fell just short of Albion by a score of 6-4 on Monday. Lakemen fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Purple Eagles since on Monday.
Riley Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Lucy Madan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Barker never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Newfane with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Bradley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Bradley was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Alina Riches and Mady Flint did most of the damage at the plate: Riches scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Flint went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Stoll, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Barker pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.9 runs thus far. As for Wilson, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Wilson might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Barker when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lakemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
