Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Cottonwood Colts

For the second straight game, Highland will face off against Cottonwood. The Rams will head out to square off against the Colts at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Highland took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cottonwood by a score of 8-3.

Porter Rockwood was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Fotheringham, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run. He has become a key player for Highland: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-7 otherwise.

Cottonwood's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Highland, their record now sits at 4-8.
