Baseball Recap: Lake Oswego Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oregon City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Oswego). Everything went their way against the Oregon City Pioneers on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-5 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lakers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Caden Gerritz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Oswego is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-11 otherwise. Gerritz was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carsten Lemon, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Lake Oswego: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-11 otherwise. Enzo Tosoni was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Lake Oswego hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

With the victory, Lake Oswego broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Oregon City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Lake Oswego will have a chance to go back-to-back against Oregon City: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
