Marquette waltzed into their game on Friday with 16 straight wins... but they left with 17. They took down the Negaunee Miners 78-64. Given the Redmen's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Miners are ranked 183rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marquette pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Negaunee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquette will host Forest Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Negaunee, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Iron Mountain at 7:30 p.m.
