League recap: Sutton races to league-leading run for West Bladen

2A/1A Conference 17 recap October 22, 2013

Kesean Sutton of West Bladen ran for the longest rushing play in 2A/1A Conference 17 this season against Pender last week. Sutton ran for 98 yards on the play and finished with 154 on the day as his team bested the Patriots.

Wallace-Rose Hill added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Midway, 35-17. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

West Bladen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Colby Lewis threw for 65 and 1 touchdown and Xavier McKoy had 65 yards receiving. On the ground Sutton chipped in 154 yards.

Russell Dove's team's dynamic duo of Lewis and McKoy proved tough for Pender to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Sutton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Knights topped Tony Hudson's team.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Malcolm Vaught. The West Bladen star has 8 catches for 132 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when East Bladen takes on Wallace-Rose Hill. As it stands, the Eagles are in fifth, while Joey Price's team is in first.

West Bladen took down the Patriots 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sutton in the win.
