Basketball Recap: Cartersville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Cartersville had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Woodland Wildcats on Thursday as the Cartersville Hurricanes made off with a 71-46 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Hurricanes have posted since December 17, 2024.

Leading Cartersville to victory were Wyatt Thomason and Kyron McClendon. Thomason went 8 for 13 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds, while McClendon went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points. The game was Thomason's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zac Tolbert, who posted nine points.

The win got Cartersville back to even at 9-9. As for Woodland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Cartersville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Dalton at 7:30 p.m. Cartersville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 218 points over their last three contests. As for Woodland, they will head out to take on Cass at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodland is facing Cass at the right time seeing as Cass is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
