Basketball Recap: Rangeview Raiders vs. George Washington Patriots
After a string of three wins, the Rangeview Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of George Washington. Rangeview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Rangeview lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Denney, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Archie Weatherspoon V, who scored ten points.
George Washington found their leader in underclassman Jeremiah Trimm, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Trimm hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Tre Borne, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Rangeview's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for George Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rangeview will take on the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Westminster will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Raiders are ranked 94th). As for George Washington, they will head out on the road to face off against the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hinkley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
