Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Takes a Loss

Blue Ridge dropped their record down to 6-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 10-0 to Mount Vernon. If Blue Ridge was looking for revenge after losing 14-3 to Mount Vernon when the teams met back in March of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Mount Vernon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Mount Vernon's part, Olivia Baird was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. Baird is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Haley Danielson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

While Blue Ridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
