Basketball Recap: Litchfield Purple Panthers vs. Greenville Comets
The Litchfield Purple Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-12 loss at the hands of Greenville. Litchfield has not had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Litchfield's loss came despite strong showings from Chloe Law and Madi Jenkins. Law scored eight points, while Jenkins scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Litchfield struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-4) when they just don't pass the ball.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Veith, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Katie Campbell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Litchfield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season. As for Greenville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
Litchfield will head out on the road to square off against the Piasa Birds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Vandals at 7:00 p.m. Vandalia is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
