Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Mendon Unity Mustangs

The Liberty Eagles will face off against the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Liberty has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Liberty's offense. They fell just short of Rushville-Industry by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Mendon Unity entered their tilt with Bushnell-Prairie City on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over the Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Adler Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mendon Unity let Ethan Triplett and Avery Frese run wild. Triplett went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Frese went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Triplett a new career-high. Miles Moulton was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Mendon Unity, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
