Softball Game Preview: Pike Road Patriots vs. Charles Henderson Trojans

The Pike Road Patriots will take on the Charles Henderson Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pike Road will be strutting in after a victory while Charles Henderson will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Pike Road made easy work of Montgomery Academy and carried off a 14-4 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Pike Road got a great performance from Abby Olesen as she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, Olesen posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ameria Anderson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ava Milton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple.

Pike Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.

Meanwhile, Charles Henderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Dothan.

Charles Henderson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janazia Cantlow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Cantlow's first of the season.

Charles Henderson's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Pike Road, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-22.

Everything went Pike Road's way against Charles Henderson in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Pike Road made off with an 18-1 win. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
