Basketball Game Preview: Green Mountain Rams vs. Frederick Golden Eagles

The Green Mountain Rams will face off against the Frederick Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green Mountain will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Green Mountain is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Wheat Ridge: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Green Mountain blew Wheat Ridge out of the water with a 79-50 final score. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Simon Lunsford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, en route to 18 points and five rebounds. His big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Swanson, who on his way to 14 points and six boards.

Green Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheat Ridge only six offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Frederick came up short against Longmont on Friday and fell 55-44.

Green Mountain will have to keep a close watch on Olly Justice and Zach Burton, a pair of players who had a big impact on Frederick's prior game. Justice to rack up 17 points, while Burton posted seven points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Dante Lechuga, who earned 12 points.

Green Mountain pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24 points. As for Frederick, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
