Softball Recap: Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans vs. Concord Academy Eagles

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wesleyan Christian Academy). They were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over the Concord Academy Eagles on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Alexis Emery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.4 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Allison Cheek was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ragan Godfrey was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Cheek wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Wesleyan Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Concord Academy only managed five hits.

Wesleyan Christian Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Concord Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesleyan Christian Academy will take on North Raleigh Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on March 20th. As for Concord Academy, they will face off against Piedmont Community Charter at 4:00 p.m. on March 18th.
