Softball Recap: E.E. Smith Comes Up Short

E.E. Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 14-2 to the Overhills Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-5 last Tuesday.

E.E. Smith saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keziah Speller, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Speller also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

E.E. Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Overhills, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. E.E. Smith will take on Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Forest has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something E.E. Smith will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Overhills, they will challenge Western Harnett at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Harnett will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Overhills surely won't give up without a fight.
