Football Recap: Greeley West Spartans vs. Mead Mavericks
Greeley West had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-2 to make it seven. They had to suffer through a 55-6 loss at the hands of the Mead Mavericks. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Mavericks are ranked 29th).
Isiah Montoya threw for 48 yards and one touchdown. Jed Hicks was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards. On the ground, Jax Lamb rushed for 75 yards and one score.
As for Mead, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
