Herriman is 6-1 against Westlake since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Thunder at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Herriman has three straight victories, Westlake has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Thursday, Herriman was able to grind out a solid win over Copper Hills, taking the game 3-1.
The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-27, 25-20, 25-16.
Meanwhile, Westlake didn't have quite enough to beat Cedar Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Thunder didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Aviators 25-15 in the first set.
Westlake was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Cedar Valley work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 15-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15, 15-11.
Herriman will have to keep a close watch on Leiema Fano and Kamylle Te'o, a pair of players who had a big impact on Westlake's prior game. Fano had nine digs and two aces, while Te'o had 17 digs and seven kills. Fano is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abbi Wood, who had six digs and three aces.
Westlake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Herriman, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.
Herriman took their win against Westlake when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunder turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
