Football Recap: Colorado Springs Christian Starts Season with Win Against Holyoke

Colorado Springs Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 36-19 win over the Holyoke Dragons. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 27-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

A big part of Colorado Springs Christian's victory came down to the chemistry between Fisher Tenpas and his top target Mikey Orawiec. Tenpas threw for 292 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt while Orawiec picked up 206 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those three receiving touchdowns gave Orawiec a new career-high.

Colorado Springs Christian didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Holyoke to a completion percentage of just 35%. The Lions weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 64.5%.

Colorado Springs Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Orawiec, Jadon Wood, and Grant Rasmussen picked up one apiece.

When it comes to explaining why Holyoke lost, don't look at Elbin Padilla. Despite the final result, he picked up 203 receiving yards and three scores. Padilla's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards.

Looking ahead, Colorado Springs Christian will venture away from home to square off against Limon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holyoke, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Glenrock at 5:00 p.m. on September 5.
