Batavia (Ill.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 12 points, drop to five before the final whistle blew on a 19-14 victory over
Lake Forest (Ill.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Micah Coffey to
Anthony Scaccia in the second quarter, the Bulldogs were up 12-7 at the half.
Batavia expanded its lead to 12 points entering the fourth quarter. BHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by Coffey to
Rourke Mullins.
With the win the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 10 games. Batavia defeated Rolling Meadows 48-13 last week.
Batavia came into the game allowing 15.1 points per game.
The loss comes after Lake Forest defeated De La Salle 27-7 last week. The loss broke Lake Forest's three-game winning streak.
Batavia (11-1) will play a playoff game against Lake Forest next week, while Lake Forest (9-3) will take on Batavia also in a playoff game.
