Marquette faced Lafayette in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Lancers. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-13, 19-25, 25-15.

Marquette's offense was headlined by Alex Danyluck and Lucas McKay, who picked up 13 kills apiece. Danyluck really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 27. Tristan Chambliss and Noah Landewe kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Lafayette got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Behl out in front who had 17 digs and five assists. That's the most digs Behl has posted over his last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kraemer, who had 17 assists and five digs.

Marquette's defeat dropped their record down to 27-10. As for Lafayette, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-7.

As of now, neither Marquette nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
