Preview: Fuqua Falcons vs. Richmond Christian Warriors
The Fuqua Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Richmond Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fuqua is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-15, which was the final score in Fuqua's tilt against Brunswick Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Fuqua can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while Brunswick Academy is ranked 144th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Richmond Christian gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Grove Christian School, posting a 58-13 win at home. 58 seems to be a good number for Richmond Christian as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Richmond Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Morgan Trimble, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and five assists, and Kailah Carter, who scored 34 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carter has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jillian Gravatt, who scored two points along with three steals.
Fuqua's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Richmond Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.
Fuqua was taken down by Richmond Christian 62-33 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Fuqua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
