Softball Recap: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. East Hickman County Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Creek Wood, Fairview was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the East Hickman County Eagles. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Fairview considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Ashlyn Corbin tossed a big game, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Fairview let Abbie Hammon and Allie Penning loose on the outfield. Hammon scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Penning scored a run while going 3-for-3. Kylie Ellison was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Fairview pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for East Hickman County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview will face off against Waverly Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waverly Central will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fairview surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Hickman County, they will head out on the road to challenge Harpeth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
