Baseball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Sandusky Blue Streaks

Perkins has gone 8-2 against Sandusky recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Pirates will take on the Blue Streaks at 4:45 p.m.

Perkins proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Columbian 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 1st.

Braxden Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since April 1st. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Davie, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Carter Koch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Sandusky's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They and St. Joseph Central Catholic finished up their matchup with a 12-12 draw.

Perkins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Sandusky's draw gives them a new season record of 10-8-1.

Perkins beat Sandusky 4-1 in their previous matchup on April 11th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
