The Chatham Cavaliers will square off against the Patrick County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Chatham is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Floyd County as they made off with an 8-2 win.
Corra Liggon made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jasmine Smoot and Gabrielle Custer did most of the damage at the plate: Smoot went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double, while Custer went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Those three runs gave Smoot a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Custer, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Patrick County took on Dan River on Monday. The Cougars came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 10-5.
Like Chatham, Patrick County also got a great game from a two-way player: Journey Moore. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Moore was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Lilly Hazelwood was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Ava Hiatt was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Patrick County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Chatham now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Patrick County, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
