Baseball Game Preview: Manatee Hurricanes vs. Boca Ciega Pirates

The Manatee Hurricanes will take on the Boca Ciega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Manatee and three for Boca Ciega.

Last Friday, Manatee came up short against Braden River and fell 8-5.

Manatee got a good showing from Malachi Cleto, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cleto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Manatee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Roberts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, Roberts posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Payton Harlan was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Boca Ciega also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Countryside by a score of 7-2.

Manatee's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Boca Ciega, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.

Manatee beat Boca Ciega 9-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Manatee repeat their success, or does Boca Ciega has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
