Baseball Recap: Hannan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Huntington Expression Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hannan). They never let the Huntington Expression Prep Kings get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Ian Chaffin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hannan is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-13 otherwise. Chaffin was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Dunn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Carter Rice was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Hannan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Hannan and bumps their season record up to 6-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Huntington Expression Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Hannan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Hundred on the 10th. As for Huntington Expression Prep, they will square off against Elliott County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
