Soccer Game Preview: Kearny vs. University City

The Kearny Komets will take on the University City Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kearny's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Kearny will head out to face University City after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. Kearny fell just short of Hoover by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Komets came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Cardinals are ranked 648th).

Meanwhile, University City kept a clean sheet against Clairemont on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Chieftains. The result kept the Centurions happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 17, 2024.

University City's win bumped their record up to 6-2-5. As for Kearny, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-3.

Kearny suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to University City in their previous meeting back in January of 2015. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kearny was down 3-0.
