Baseball Game Preview: John F. Kennedy Rockets vs. Gonzales Apaches

The John F. Kennedy Rockets will head out to take on the Gonzales Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. John F. Kennedy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

John F. Kennedy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over San Antonio Memorial. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

MAX GARZA was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, JORGE PINA was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. BAYRON CRUZ also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Gonzales was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against La Vernia, falling 13-7.

Gonzales saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colt Robinson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Another was D Navejar, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

John F. Kennedy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10. As for Gonzales, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17-1.

John F. Kennedy took their win against Gonzales in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Rockets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Apaches turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
