Damonte Ranch had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 9-12 to make it five. They came up short against the Reed Raiders, falling 9-2. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Angie Gomez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Damonte Ranch saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Mamola, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Reed, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Considering they have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Reed's side, Britney Taelour made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. Taelour was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Reed let Elana Torres and Breanna Staats run wild. Torres went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Staats went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Jaelee Hammes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Looking ahead, Damonte Ranch will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Galena at 3:30 p.m. The Grizzlies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.29 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Reed, they are taking a road trip to square off against Spanish Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
