Preview: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Taos Tigers

The Bloomfield Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Taos Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taos took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Bloomfield, who comes in off a win.

Bloomfield stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Crownpoint 49-14 on the road. Given Bloomfield's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Crownpoint is ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danielle Johnson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aliya Quintana, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Taos came up short against Aztec on Tuesday and fell 27-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Taos has scored all season.

Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Taos, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-11.

Bloomfield lost to Taos on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. Can Bloomfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
