Baseball Recap: Tonkawa Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Tonkawa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Morrison Wildcats by a score of 11-8. This was a revenge game for the Buccaneers: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in March, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

Cayden Duvall made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Tonkawa got a massive performance out of Cason Johnson, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Westyn Freeman, who scored four runs while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances.

Tonkawa's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Morrison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Coming up, Tonkawa will welcome Newkirk at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches. As for Morrison, they will face off against Amber-Pocasset at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
