Basketball Recap: Gramercy Christian Comes Up Short

If Gramercy Christian was riding high fresh off their 53-10 takedown of Fellowship Christian Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gramercy Christian Warriors were beaten by the Faith Christian Academy Conquerors 63-35 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Conquerors: they've now lost four in a row.

Gramercy Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Lowry, who posted a point in addition to six steals and five boards. Those six steals gave Lowry a new career-high. Diego De Hoyos was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 11 points.

It was another big night for Andrew Kelly, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 23 points for Faith Christian Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Ibn Triplin, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Gramercy Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Faith Christian Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Gramercy Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on New Bern Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Goldsboro HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on January 27th. One thing working in Faith Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
