Basketball Recap: Phoenix School of Academic Excellence Comes Up Short

Phoenix School of Academic Excellence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 90-34 loss at the hands of the Tri-City Christian Academy Warriors. Phoenix School of Academic Excellence was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-24.

It was another big night for Fulvio Dos Santos, who dropped a double-double on 46 points and 14 rebounds for Tri-City Christian Academy. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Dos Santos has scored at least a third of Tri-City Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Mestler, who made all 6 shots he took for 12 points and six boards.

Phoenix School of Academic Excellence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Phoenix School of Academic Excellence will take on Sonoran Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tri-City Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Berean Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tri-City Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Berean Academy likes a good challenge.
