Recap: Mineral County Serpents vs. Owyhee Braves

There's no place like home for the Mineral County Serpents, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 58-51 victory over Owyhee on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Mineral County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Mineral County had a senior duo take command as DeVayne Isom scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals and Triston Jones scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Isom has scored at least 25% of Mineral County's points. Brock Barton was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Mineral County pushed their record up to 4-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points per game. As for Owyhee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mineral County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Eureka at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. Eureka will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Owyhee won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Smith Valley at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Smith Valley is ranked 32nd, while Owyhee is ranked 36th).
