Basketball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Brighton

On Friday, Highland faced Brighton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Highland Rams took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brighton Bengals. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Highland lost, don't look at Soren Ries. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. Ries has been hot for a while, having posted three or more blocks the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Drisdom, who posted seven points.

Brighton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bradley Easton, who earned 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Soto, who scored 12 points and five boards.
