Softball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Riverside Beavers

For the first time this season, Chardon will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Riverside Beavers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chardon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Chardon didn't have quite enough to beat Tunkhannock and fell 6-5.

Riley Ford was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sierra Taylor was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Ford wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Chardon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Riverside entered their tilt with Grove City on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Greyhounds 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Beavers, who have now won four matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Riverside's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Chardon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Chardon suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Riverside in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Chardon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
