Soccer Game Preview: Gilmer vs. LaFayette

The Gilmer Bobcats will head out to face off against the LaFayette Ramblers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Gilmer is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bruins, falling 5-0. Gilmer haven't had much luck with Northwest Whitfield recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, LaFayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 6-1 to Calhoun.

Gilmer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for LaFayette, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Gilmer skirted past LaFayette 2-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gilmer since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
