Softball Recap: Waynesboro Little Giants vs. Stuarts Draft Cougars
Waynesboro extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the Stuarts Draft Cougars, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on April 1st.
As for Stuarts Draft, the victory got them back to even at 6-6. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
For Stuarts Draft's part, they got a massive performance out of Karlee Layne, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Layne a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mason, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one triple.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waynesboro will welcome Wilson Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stuarts Draft, they will be playing at home against Page County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
