Basketball Recap: Christ the King Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Christ the King can now relate to. They lost 72-52 to the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Crusaders are ranked first).

Archbishop Stepinac's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danny Carbuccia, who shot 60% from the field en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the most points Carbuccia has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiah Jervis, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 18 points.

Christ the King is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14. As for Archbishop Stepinac, they pushed their record up to 24-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Christ the King does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archbishop Stepinac, they have already played their next contest, a 63-61 win against St. Raymond Boys on the 9th.
