Softball Recap: Vinton County Vikings vs. Meigs Marauders

Vinton County extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They came up short against the Meigs Marauders, falling 15-5. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Marauders earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

As for Meigs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For Meigs' part, Natalie Goode was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Goode has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Roush, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Newell, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
