Basketball Game Preview: Kaufman Lions vs. Midlothian Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Kaufman Lions take on the Midlothian Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday... Kaufman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Kaufman strolled past Ennis with points to spare, taking the game 56-42. Given Kaufman's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Ennis is ranked 973rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaufman can attribute much of their success to Kaylee Wrenn, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, and Aubre Prox, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Prox has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiersten Thomas, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Midlothian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 38-28 to Midlothian Heritage.

Midlothian's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Kaufman, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
